Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden

Rockford, Illinois

Since late March I have been dropping by Klehm once or twice a week to watch the trees and wildflowers bloom. There's always something new. Click the photos for larger versions. And if you're in the Rockford area, be sure to stop by Klehm and do some exploring of your own.

Forgive my weak attempts at photography and, even more, my forays into wildflower identification. If I have it wrong, please let me know!

Henbit

Lamium amplexicaule
April 14, 2010

(I am not certain about this species. It appears to be a variety or relative of Henbit. Can you ID it?)

  1. Lamium purpureum -- it is indeed a close relative of the common henbit.
